How MathLab Works
One Math World. Many ways to make an idea visible.
MathLab separates where learners discover a Topic, the Tool they manipulate, and the bounded Activity that turns that Tool into a learning experience.
1. Enter the Math World
Learners move through 6 Spaces: Number Garden, Fraction Lagoon, Group Workshop, Algebra Arcade, Measurement Market, and Geometry Studio. Every path stays open.
2. Choose how to learn
- Open Workbench supports exploration without a required Challenge.
- Guided Notebook provides a prompt, visual Tool, clear next action, feedback, support, and explanation.
- Foundation, Connections, and Application bands describe complexity, not ability or locked levels.
3. Build, inspect, and explain
The learner changes the same model that MathLab evaluates. Incorrect work stays visible. Correct work leads to a Visual Proof and, at selected checkpoints, a Structured Explanation.
4. Carry the workspace with you
Notes, Scratchpad, Calculator, and the bounded Math Coach remain available as Workspace Utilities. They support the work without awarding mastery evidence or creating questions.
